Outcome: The Micro Grid system will autonomously serve renewable energy optimization for a colony/industry as well as it provides an economically cheap way of utilizing power and also helps in selling the excess power back to the Grid.
Description: This project deals with Dynamic, Distributed Energy Management in a Virtual Power Plant. At present, the energy management is done using SCADA which cannot handle intermittent power sources. SCADA is not autonomous and cannot handle uncertainties. So, we use Multi Agent System, a paradigm in programming for handling these uncertainties. They coordinate and take dynamic actions in an environment. We propose to implement the smart grid features such as Demand Side Management Plug and Play in micro-grid and thereby making it a Smart Micro-Grid. Several such micro-grids are connected to form a virtual power plant. Economic optimization is done by chronologically choosing the least cost renewable resource. Then we link the MAS to Arduino by linking with Serial Port for Sending and Receiving information, thereby emulating a Sensor-Actuator Environment. Then, we link Arduino with Internet using IOT to prove real time scenario for sending and receiving data from remote location.
