Outcome: To design and implement a land surveying robot using inbuilt smartphone sensors and provide a 3D view on accessing device.
Description: Surveying is the science of determining the positions of points along the earth’s surface with respect to one another.Equipments used:- tapes or chains, total stations, theodolite, In this project a robot is being designed, that surveys a large area of land.The robots covers the respective area according to the lawn mower algorithum or the robot can be manually controlled, This ensures the area will get surveyed with minimum amount of time. To map the terrrain the XYZ coordinate are calculated at different points on the terrain. Sensors like Accelerometer,Gyroscope, Magnetometer, gravity have been used to find the coordinates .An android phone consisting of these sensors can be also be used to find the coordinates. An Android application has been developed that monitors the sensors and stores the sensor values into a text file.The sensor values obtained will be suitably conditioned so as to be mapped using plotting software like Octave.The mapped terrain can be obtained on a workstation. The key advantage of our project over conventional methods are its intuitive UI, accuracy, low cost, reduction of labour,simplicity and the ease of use
