Canvas Concrete
Canvas concrete is impregnated geo textile and is soft and flexible, but it hardens on hydration to form a durable fibre concrete layer. Earlier it was used as creating an emergency shelter in disaster relief areas,, but now the material has found its applications across different sectors like erosion control, slope stabilization and sometimes designer furniture

CC do not require plant or mixing equipment. Simple it just need to be positioned and spray of water. After hydration it gives 80% strength within 24 hours. It is very fast hardening concrete.

Project Description:

  1. CC has a design life of more than 10 years and it is quicker in construction and less expensive compared to normal concrete. It consist of 3- Dimensional fibre matrix containing a specially formulated dry concrete mix.
  2. On one side or layer of the concrete it contains a PVC backing cloth to ensure that the material is completely waterproof while on the other side it contains hydrophilic fibres to aid hydration by drawing water into the mixture. It can be hydrated by two techniques either by spraying water or by immersing it into the water.
  3. It can be easily nailed into the surface or using an adhesive material can be used as a coating to attach them easily on various surfaces. It is available in 3 thicknesses i.e. 5, 8 & 13 mm. It usually comes in roll of 1m or 1.1 m width with each length of 4.5m or 200m.

Raw materials:

  1. Dry concrete mixer: Dry cement which has calcium aluminate and calcium sulfoaluminate . Calcium sulfoaluminate is a very good binder for concrete cloth.
  2. Fibre Matrix:3D matrix forms a reinforcing matrix within concrete cloth. Reinforcing property of fibre help in absorption of energy due to impact. This matrix help to prevent the development of cracks.
  3. Membranes:Impermeable PVC membrane on one side to make CC waterproof against any attack from moisture or the water.Immersion: Must be immersed in water for at least 90 sec.
