Dual Wind Turbine

A new wind turbine generator system (WTGS) is introduced, and its mathematical model, blade pitch control scheme, and nonlinear simulation software for the performance prediction are presented. The notable feature of WTGS is that it consists of two rotor systems positioned horizontally at upwind and downwind locations, and a generator installed vertically inside the tower.

We are building an efficient and smart wind turbine system. The significant features of this turbine are its dual rotor blade system which is positioned horizontally at upwind and downwind locations, its drive train which is installed horizontally inside the tower with a new efficient induction generator, and its control and safety systems. The project focuses mainly on the methodology to analyze the power flow performance. The scientific literature indicates that a dual-rotor system could extract additional 20–30% power compared to a single rotor system from the same wind stream. Our wind tunnel test indicates that a scaled-down version of the dual-rotor turbine system may produce up to 60% more power than a single-rotor system.

Project Description:

  1. Coaxial gearbox: coaxial gearbox, also referred to as an inline gearbox, the drive shaft and the output shaft are on the same rotation axis. Coaxial gearboxes are usually in the form of spur gears. Spur gears come in different versions.
  2. DC motor : An electric motor is an electrical machine that converts electrical energy into mechanical energy. The reverse of this is the conversion of mechanical energy into electrical energy and is done by an electric generator, which has much in common with a motor.
  3. 2 propellers: A propeller is a type of fan that transmits power by converting rotational motion into thrust. A pressure difference is produced between the forward and rear surfaces of the airfoil-shaped blade, and a fluid (such as air or water) is accelerated behind the blade.
  4. Rechargeable LIacid battery: A rechargeable battery, storage battery, secondary cell, or accumulator is a type of electrical battery which can be charged, discharged into a load, and recharged many times, as opposed to a disposable or primary battery, which is supplied fully charged and discarded after use.

Connnect the Propellers with the Coaxial gearbox shaft and let that output terminal to the Rechargeable battery. Lrt the blades to rotate freely.
