Wireless Communication

Bus ticketing and accident information provider system

The project is meant to count the number of passengers and their information throughout the journey. This application is based on an RFID system which is a radio frequency identification system that facilitates the system to count the number of passengers. If the bus, unfortunately, met an accident the GPS installed in it will send their information to the nearest hospital. The GPS system enables us to calculate the distance travelled by bus. The automatic Bus Ticketing system implemented by RFID will count the number of passengers enter or exit.

RFID project implementation

The new system of reading through RFID is much more efficient than the older one. The RFID system will sense the passengers and the amount are calculated automatically. Then tag is introduced to the passengers which will act as a pass. GPS model will track the passengers and will also notify about accident information. The requirements of the project are as follows:-

  • Vibrating sensor
  • IR TX/RX
  • GPS
  • Motor
  • RFID
  • U Slot
  • Micro Controller
  • LCD
  • GSM

The radiofrequency is used to read the readings from the controller. The tag of the passenger lets the controller read the data and display it in the LCD. To track the bus we use the GPS system which let us track the buses across the city. The RFID system uses an IR transmitter and receiver to read the data. The tags are can be of two types which are: -

  • Active
  • Passive

The active tags use on-chip power to transmit the data whereas, the passive tags used inducing of magnetic power through the card. The passenger can easily swipe the card and the reader will store the data about the passenger. The data includes the arrival, departure and station boarding of the passengers. The project is very easy to build and maintain.

There are three modes to run the project that is Admin mode, User mode and Auto mode. For the Admin mode, all the information would be open such as recharge user card, tag number, etc. When user mode is selected, the source and destination station are displayed with their respective charges. The auto mode enables the user to get the total charge of their journey.

The project is needed to be tested with proper datasets. One can give data as much as they want and then check the output accordingly. All the hardware is also to be tested such as the buzzer, GSM, GPS, etc. The project is controlled using a microcontroller. The microcontroller which is used in the project is the AT89C51. At the same time, we will start the coding also which will be done in C language. To develop the proper application, we will use Keil C software.

Conclusion

There is a lot of advantage of using the RFID system as it reduces the need for an extra person on the bus to maintain the ticketing system. Also, there will be a very minute chance of any error in the calculation of the rates.
