Maglev basically refers to magnetic levitation and works on the principle of magnetic levitation. The technology is noiseless, frictionless and minimal maintenance. Frictionless is the factor which paves the way for the maglev to be built in the category of high-speed trains across the planet and making it one of the most replacements forms of transportations available.

The technology levitates an object in the air through electromagnetic propulsion using electromagnets. The principle of maglev trains involves levitation, propulsion, lateral guidance. Maglev uses two types of techniques one being attractive suspension type and other being repulsive suspension type and both the techniques use electromagnets to levitate the moving object.

Electromagnets are attached to the train and guidance magnets on the sides of the rails. The flow of current is regulated by a master computer depending on the distance to be maintained from the track. These can attain an average speed up to 410 KM/Hr Approx.

Stators of the maglev system are in rails and rotors are in the train. The polarity of the magnets is changed according to the face of the train. The front portion of the train develops attraction force whereas rear portion develops repulsion force due to which the maglev is pulled at the front and pushed from the back. Basically a principle of working like in a modern RC motor.
