The smallest component of a panel is the solar cell. Each solar cell has two or more layers of semiconductor material that yield direct current (DC) placed when visible to light.   • Pumps: DC water pumps in general use two-third to two-fourth the energy of conventional AC pumps.
  • Storage: Batteries are usually not suggested for solar-powered sprinkling systems because they decrease the total efficiency of the system and increase the maintenance cost.
  • Controller or Inverter: The pump controller guards the pump against high- or low-voltage situations and capitalizes on the amount of water pumped in less than perfect light situations. An AC pump needs an inverter, an electronic component that translates DC electricity into AC power to function the pump.
  • Other equipment: Adrift adjustment turns a pump on and off when storing the standard tank. It’s similar to the float in a commode tank but is certain to the pump controller.
