The learning of the basic things of electronics are resistor, capacitor, and inductor other remaining things of components used in the electronics device. Here the power supply circuit and the design help the students learns the power supply of electronic and the components to choose. The power supply circuit consist 5v, 12v, -12v DC Supply.

Project Description:

  • Transformer: The transformer is a static device which transfer the energy from one place to another place,it consists of the solid iron wounded with copper winding on it,winding based on the Lap or Wave windings, transformer is classified into two types such as Step Up and Step Down transformer.
  • Step Up Transformer: In step up transformer the secondary side winding is always greater than the primary winding because a high voltage is developed on the secondary side of a transformer. In primary side is applied with low voltage the secondary side will be higher than than the primary side.
  • Rectifier: In power system one form of electrical is converted into another supply. Rectifier plays the role of converting the Alternating Current into Direct Current.Rectifier are three major classified such as half, full and bridge rectifier. Mostly Bridge Rectifier are used in the power supply circuit.

  • IC 7805: The IC 7805 is a Voltage regulator, it as the 3 pin names as INPUT,GND,OUTPUT pins,the IC input (5v-18v) can withstand,output side (4.8v - 5.2v)
  • IC 7812: The IC 7812 has the input voltage (15v-34v)above voltage ic will damaged, output pin constantly 12v 1A.
  • IC 7912: The IC 7912 has the input voltage(14.5v-35.5v),current is 1.5A and the output pins produces as negative -12v DC Voltage.
  • Electrolytic Capacitor: An electrolytic capacitor is a polarized capacitor whose anode or positive plate is made of a metal that forms an insulating oxide layer through anodization. This oxide layer acts as the dielectric of the capacitor.Mostly capacitor are used for the noise filtering purpose.
  • Resistor: The resistor is a passive device,it used to reduce the flows of current on the circuit.
  • LED: A light emitting diode is a two-lead semiconductor light source. It is a p-n junction diode that emits light when activated, mostly leds are used for the power indication purpose

Project Implementation:

  1. Connect the circuit as per the circuit Diagram on the bread board
  2. For 12v DC power supply you need change the Voltage regultor on the circuit

Hardware Requirements:

  1. Step Down Transformer
  2. IN4007
  3. Capacitor
  4. Resistor
  5. LED
  6. BreadBoard
