Weight-Scale-Using-Sigfox
As an IoT College project we decided to work on a medical weight scale connected with the Sigfox technology. At first the idea was to create a secure prototype with fog computing, but we had very little time and had to work with available material.

This prototype can weigh up to 200kg, it transfers the values via Sigfox and Node-Red (IBM Bluemix) back to a database hosted on the Raspberry PI and graphs created from the database's content are viewable on a custom website hosted on the Raspberry PI. This was made possible by sharing connection from a phone.

Project Description:

  1. Software/ online service : IBM BlueMix, Sigfox
  2. Arduino: Arduino Uno is a microcontroller board based on the ATmega328P (datasheet). It has 14 digital input/output pins (of which 6 can be used as PWM outputs), 6 analog inputs, a 16 MHz quartz crystal, a USB connection, a power jack, an ICSP header and a reset button. It contains everything needed to support the microcontroller; simply connect it to a computer with a USB cable or power it with a AC-to-DC adapter or battery to get started.. You can tinker with your UNO without worrying too much about doing something wrong, worst case scenario you can replace the chip for a few dollars and start over again.
  3. Bread Board: A breadboard is a construction base for prototyping of electronics. Originally it was literally a breadboard, a polished piece of wood used for slicing bread. In the 1970s the solderless breadboard (a.k.a. plugboard, a terminal array board) became available and nowadays the term "breadboard" is commonly used to refer to these.
  4. Adafruit RGB Backlight LCD: This is a fancy upgrade to standard 16x2 LCDs, instead of just having blue and white, or red and black, this LCD has black characters on a full color RGB-backlight background! That means you can change the background color to anything you want - red, green, blue, pink, white, purple yellow, teal, salmon, chartreuse, or just leave it off for a neutral background. This LCD is the most daylight readable character LCD we have and is very beautiful and easy to read no matter what color/brighness you have for the backlight.
  5. Seeed Base Shield V2: Arduino Uno is the most popular Arduino board so far, however it is sometimes frustrating when your project requires a lot of sensors or Leds and your jumper wires are in a mess. The purpose of creating the Grove – Base Shield is to help you getting rid of bread board and jump wires. With the rich grove connectors on the base board, you can add all the grove modules to the Arduino Uno very conveniently!
  6. Load cell straight bar 50kg: A low-cost half-bridge load cell with a full-scale sensitivity of 1.1 mV / V with a maximum measuring weight of 50 kg. The maximum load the sensor can withstand is 50 Kg. If you combine two of them in a measurement of 50Kg or more, a full-bridge configuration can be used for more accurate weighing. You can also use a combination of four.
  7. Raspberry Pi 3 Model B: Delivering up to 10x the processing performance of the original Raspberry Pi and added connectivity with 802.11 b/g/n WLAN and Bluetooth 4.1
