Cell phone operated Land Rover

If you are using a remote-controlled robot it will work on RF circuits which come with very limitations. You will have a limitation of control and frequency.  Nowadays cell phone operated land rovers are used which provides us with a good working range and control. We use a mobile phone to control it. It has vast capabilities. The cell phone is implemented by making a phone call. There are three steps by which we will take control of the rover. Firstly, we will have a perception face. After that, we will start processing and then the action takes place.

Project description

We will control the robot with the help of a mobile phone. One mobile phone will be attached to the robot. We will mount sensors on the robot. The processing is done with the help of a microcontroller. Motors and accumulators are used for performing the action. We make a call from the mobile phone to the mobile phone which is attached to the robot. In this project dual-tone, multiple frequency (DTMF) is used. The robot will receive this tone and do the process.

The robot will receive the tone and ATmega16 microcontroller will process it by DTMF decoder. The work of the decoder is to decode the tone in binary languages and provide it to the microcontroller. After that microcontroller will do its work which is pre-programmed initially. It will its decision motor to drive it in the direction in which we want i.e forward direction. Our mobile phone which we used to make a call will work as a remote. You will not have the requirement of any receiver or transmitter like other robotic projects. The mean components in this project will be DC motor driver, DTMF decoder, cell phones, and microcontroller.

Project Implementation

  • The cell phone will be attached to the robot. We will make a call on that phone.
  • Some tunes were received by the phone when we press buttons on the phone.
  • We have to receive the call either by choosing auto-answer mode in the phone or by pressing the OK button.
  • MT8870 will decode it and it will be decoded in binary digits.
  • after that motor will start working as per instructions are given by microcontroller.

Software used

  • ATmega16 uses hex code which induced AdVision C compiler
  • For circuit designs, Eagle software is used.

Programming language - C language
