You will use Raspberry Pi as the brain of the system. Servo motors to enable motion in 3 dimension. Attach a high speed camera at the functional end of the arm. You will control its motion using your mobile phone. It will be done using a Bluetooth module.

Project Description:

Raspberry Pi 3: It is a third-generation, single-board computer. It contains a 64-bit quad-core processor. The clock speed is 1.5 GHz. An external micro SD card provides memory to Raspberry Pi. You can give instructions using the Raspbian OS.

Raspbian OS: It is similar to Windows or Ubuntu OS. You can code the Raspberry Pi using Python in the Raspbian OS. It is user-friendly and allows multi-tasking.

High Torque Servo Motors: It allows a rotation of 180 degrees. Three or more servo motors are attached using mechanical parts. Using this, the robotic arm can move in all three dimensions.

Servo shield: Using this, you can control 16 servo motors at a time.

High Speed Camera: It can record the videos in high definition. Later, you can do many operations on the video like converting it into slow motion. You will attach it to the functional end of the robotic arm.

Python: You can give instructions to Raspberry Pi using Python. You will use OpenCV library for image and video processing.

MIT app inventor 2: This is an open source platform for designing android app. Use it to design the app to control the robotic arm manually.

Project Implementation:

  1. Begin with the fabrication of the robotic arm. Use components like bearings, clamps, screws and nuts. Design it for a 3 dimensional motion.
  2. Attach the high speed camera at the functional end of the robotic arm.
  3. Interface the Bluetooth module and the high speed camera with Raspberry Pi.
  4. Use the servo shield to attach all the servo motors to the Raspberry Pi.
  5. Design your app in the MIT app inventor 2. You will use it to control the robotic arm and the video.
  6. Type the code in Python in Raspbian OS to control the robotic arm using the Bluetooth module.
  7. Use the OpenCV library to record the video.
  8. Perform certain operations on the video like making it slow motion, adding some filters, etc.
