Design of Shunt Active Power Filter(APF)

Design of Shunt Active Power Filter(APF)

A power filter is a type of electronic filter which is placed between an external power line and electronic devices. It is used in order to attenuate conducted radio frequencies or electromagnetic interference between the AC or DC power line and the equipment. In this project, you are going to design and simulate an APF based on inter-leaved buck converter in the MATLAB/Simulink environment.

A Numerical Study on Different Types of Fins

Different Types of Fins

Fin is nothing but an extended surface found on the heat exchanging devices such as radiators in Car, Bike engines, Computer CPU heatsinks and Heat exchangers in power plants. An efficient Fin can really increase the performance of a system. There are various types of Fin and analyzing those theoretically takes a lot of effort. So, researchers around the world take help of numerical methods to analyze complex problem such as heat transfer through Fin. In this project, you will work on solving the various type of fin using numerical methods and compare it with a theoretical solution where it exists.

Microstructure and Thermal (TGA & DTA) Analysis of a Polymer Based Composite Material

Microstructure and Thermal (TGA & DTA) Analysis of a Polymer Based Composite Material

Many of the engineers and researchers have done their research on composite materials and they found that the composite which is made from two different materials with different chemical and physical property that, when combined, produce a material with characteristics different from individual components. Doing research in composite material easy bit easy. A lot of scholars during Ph.D. work on composite material to publish papers and get a Ph.D. quickly. So, having knowledge in manufacturing and testing of composite material will be helpful to an engineer, who wants to pursue higher studies.

Coarse Aggregates Replacement with Jhamma Bricks(Concrete Prep)

Coarse Aggregates and Jhamma Bricks

Concrete is considered the world’s most used construction material. Typical concrete mixtures are comprised of water, sand, cement and an aggregate of rock. This project focuses on the coarse aggregate in concrete. Here you will replace the coarse aggregate by burn brick or Jhama brick and you will study the effect of salient parameters that affect the properties of Jhama class brick based concrete. You will also study the short-term mechanical and physical properties of fresh and hardened Jhama class brick based concrete.

Comparison of Strength Characteristics of Concrete Made by TSMA using Fly Ash and Nominal Concrete Made by NM Approach

Two Stage Mixing Approach

It is known that wastage in India in the construction industry is as high as 30%. This is a large, yet relatively simple and straightforward challenge needs to be tackled by engineers. These wastages are activities that absorb man hours, resources and materials but create no value. In this project, you will use those waste materials to make something productive by making a concrete using recycled aggregate and fly ash. After making concrete you will compare the compressive as well as flexural strength characteristics of the concrete made through NMA and TSMA.

CFD Estimation of Heat Transfer in Copper Tube for Heat Exchanger using Passive Heat Transfer Augumentation Technique

Temperature Distribution Over Various Copper Tubes

Heat exchanger has been a part of many works producing devices such as air conditioner, refrigerator, automotive, manufacturing, thermal power plants etc. Convective heat transfer is the main phenomena behind the working of heat transfer. A lot of research going on around the world to increase the heat transfer rate of a heat exchanger. One way of increasing this is by introducing extended surfaces inside the fluid flow which will result in more surface area and flow velocity. This technique is known as passive heat transfer augmentation technique. In this project, you will work on increasing the coefficient of convective heat transfer inside a Copper tube using the above technique and will observe the benefits of this technique.

A Numerical Solution to 2D Flat Plate Problem with Constant Conductivity Heat Transfer

Temperature Distribution over a 2D Flat Plate

All the engineering devices we use involves the conversion of energy. In this process, a lot of heat released to the surroundings as a part of energy loss. The efficiency of any device can be increased by minimizing loss due to heat transfer. That’s why a lot of research going on around the world in the field of heat transfer. To solve real-life heat transfer problems Numerical methods are preferred, because of less time consumption, ease, and convenience. To get hands-on experience on numerical methods, here you are going to solve the Two-Dimensional flat plate problem with Constant conductivity heat transfer by using Numerical methods.
